Getting the most out of what you have!

I know we’ve all been there, staring at a closet filled with clothes screaming “I have nothing to wear” as the clock ticks down to where you’re supposed to be. It always seems like we never have enough clothes or the right clothes to wear, but that’s far from true! If you have been in this predicament, it may be time to breathe some life into old clothes without maxing your credit card. Here are three tips for making outfits from what is already in your closet.

Organize Your Closet

At the beginning of each season, it’s time for a closet clean-out. This means putting away winter coats and fall pieces and discarding things that don’t fit your style anymore. This will make the process of picking an outfit for the new seasons much easier. Who wants to wear a puffer when it’s 90 degrees outside? Look over clothes that have been pushed back in your closet and consider donating or selling them. If you are struggling to decide what to wear or tear, try styling the piece with five different outfits. If you cannot, it’s probably time for it to go. A clear and updated closet will save you time and frustration when planning future outfits.

Accessorize

Michael Kors once said “I’ve always thought of accessories as the exclamation point of a woman’s outfit” and he couldn’t have been more spot on. It’s true… I mean really, accessories can drastically transform an outfit from drab to fab. Accessorizing is definitely the easiest easy to keep up with trends on a budget. Save yourself purchasing a new outfit by switching up shoes, purses, hair accessories, and jewelry. Personally, hair accessories are my favorite way to add to an outfit. From funky hats to scarves, and clips, these pieces are sure to elevate your look!

Color combos

Get creative with color! Mix existing clothes with unexpected color combinations for a fresh and bold look. Complementary colors are your best friend! Knowing which shades go best together will save you lots of time and money. Monochromatic outfits can also add a level of sophistication to a quick and easy look. Try tonal looks, same color different tones often add depth to an outfit. Mixing up textures and patterns can add even more. This can create a variation from your usual style without anything new. No color combo is off-limits, so take risks and remember you look best wearing confidence!
