When it comes to supporting small women-owned businesses, you're not just contributing to female entrepreneurship; you're also uncovering the charm of products and services infused with a personal touch. In today's diverse business landscape, these five remarkable businesses led by inspiring women have found their unique path, delivering outstanding offerings that truly deserve our acknowledgment and backing. Whether it's art, jewelry or fashion, let's take a closer look at these 5 fantastic ventures and the talented women who are driving them forward.

I'm excited to tell you about an amazing business that I almost want to keep as my little secret because it's just that good! But honestly, someone with this much talent and a commitment to sustainability deserves all the recognition. I'm talking about Kenzie Paradis and her brand, Kenzie's Trends. Kenzie specializes in handmade recycled and custom jewelry, and let me tell you, her creations are something special. While her main focus is on necklaces, she offers a wide range of products, including hairpieces, bag charms, earrings, keychains, and more. Her inspiration can come from anywhere – Pinterest, songs, albums, or even fictional characters. What sets Kenzie's Trends apart is its dedication to sustainability. Kenzie sources most of her materials from thrift stores or flea markets. She's really creative with recycling jewelry, like turning old watches and watch faces into beautiful necklaces. Kenzie's journey into starting her brand was inspired by her mother's own side hustle when she was a young adult. Kenzie had been making jewelry for friends and classmates on a smaller scale but was encouraged by the people around her to take the leap and start her own business. It wasn't easy at first, but with the support of friends and family, she made it happen. Kenzie's big break came when her business went viral on TikTok in 2022. From there, her following grew, and she felt even more motivated to create unique pieces.  She her creativity has been at it's peak ever since. One of the most rewarding aspects of supporting a small business is the personal touch and care that creators put into their products. When asked about her favorite part of running her business, Kenzie's response was heartwarming. She said, "My favorite part of owning a small business is getting to see my customers' reactions to receiving their jewelry. Whether I was able to bring their idea to life or if they bought an item from my shop, seeing how happy they are when they receive their package or how it boosts their confidence makes all the effort I put into making their piece even more worth it." If you're in the market for unique and sustainable jewelry pieces with a genuine and creative creator behind them, I highly recommend checking out Kenzie's Trends. You can find her on Instagram and TikTok @kenziestrends. Trust me; you won't be disappointed!

Let me introduce you to an incredible fashion powerhouse I've had the privilege of knowing – Haley Adams and her brand, Narcissa. I've crossed paths with Haley during our time at LSU in various fashion classes, and let me tell you, she's the definition of a boss. Haley is not just a full-time student; she's also the Junior show chair of the Fashion Association at LSU, which means she runs the show. On top of all this, she's been building her brand, Narcissa. It's an online boutique that offers a range of neutral and timeless pieces that can easily be dressed up or down. What sets Narcissa apart, according to Haley, is its style – it's more aligned with the northern, big-city nightlife aesthetic, as opposed to the classic southern-style boutiques we often see in Baton Rouge. This brand isn't just about clothes; it's about fulfilling personal business goals and building a strong resume for future career prospects. Now, the name Narcissa has a special meaning. It's derived from the Narcissus flower, symbolizing self-love, new beginnings, optimism, and renewal. The Narcissus flower is linked to the Greek Mythology story of Narcissus, who fell in love with his reflection. The name represents the idea of falling in love with yourself when you wear Narcissa's clothes. Their mission is all about loving what you see in the mirror and boosting self-confidence. Their mission statement says it all: "Look at your reflection and practice self-love." Narcissa is more than just a business; it's a passionate and creative venture started and run by a local student. If you haven't already, I urge you to follow and support Narcissa by Haley Serena! It's a brand that not only embodies style but also promotes self-love and confidence.

Another amazing jewelry brand I've come across is called NJoy Designs by Natalie Joy, and I'm really impressed with her approach. Natalie's jewelry pieces have a classic and timeless appeal, featuring a beautiful range of stones, pearls, and high-quality metals They create pieces that not only look stunning but also stand the test of time with proper care, thanks to the use of top-notch materials. Plus, many of their items are made from recycled materials, and they even have a pearl supplier who ethically sources their pearls. What's even more admirable is that Natalie is conscious about minimizing waste. She handcrafts each product made to order to avoid unnecessary waste, and her commitment to using plastic-free packaging is a wonderful eco-friendly touch. Natalie's journey into the world of jewelry-making started with a family tradition passed down by her aunt, who taught her how to make wire wrap bracelets. From there, her love for crafting jewelry grew, and she found inspiration in pieces she saw in stores and online. This passion eventually led her to start her own brand, NJoy Designs. What truly shines through is Natalie's dedication and her mission for her brand. She aims to make an inclusive brand saying “My goal is to make everyone who wears jewelry feel their best, and to really help support women especially. As a small business owner and as a woman, I know how we can be looked down on, especially in a workplace. When I say I own a jewelry business, I’m often met with “oh… cool,” but when a man says he owns a business, it’s typically looked at as so much more professional. So I would love to have a small impact in changing that narrative, in showing that us girls can be successful doing what we love, and supporting all the girls along the way.” Natalie wants to change the narrative and prove that women can be incredibly successful doing what they love. Her "girl boss" attitude and creative vision make me want to wholeheartedly support her incredible brand. It's inspiring to see someone like Natalie making a positive impact in the world of jewelry while empowering women along the way.

This brand stood out to me because when asked what their target audience was the answer was the “fashion girlies, and the gays” which I think basically encapsulates my following so I just had to share it with y'all. The brand is Creature Comfort Adornments by Alayna Taylor. Alayna's creations are truly unique and whimsical. She crafts one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces using 90-100% recycled materials. She scours thrift stores, estate sales, and markets, and even gets materials from family and friends. Her brand, Creature Comforts, is all about sustainability and radical reuse. Alayna believes in the idea that there are countless treasures out there already in the world, just waiting to be reimagined and given new life. What I love about Creature Comforts is Alayna's creative vision. She takes recycled watches, rosaries, bottle caps, and more, and turns them into these amazing maximalist pieces. It's clear that her focus is on subversive fashion and pushing the boundaries of creativity. But Creature Comforts is more than just a business to Alayna; it's a reflection of her values. She sees creature comforts not just as material items but as vital connections to the vibrancy of life, a sanctuary for self-expression, and the spirit of creativity. Sustainability, self-expression, and leading with kindness are the core principles of her brand. I find Alayna's approach not only refreshing but also inspiring. Her jewelry isn't just about fashion; it's about embracing your unique style and making a statement while also being mindful of the environment. Plus, her commitment to inclusivity and kindness in her target audience is something I can wholeheartedly get behind.
