How Eilish's outfit has sparked a revolution of body positivity.

Billie Eilish reclaims her power and speaks out against abuse, and the unrealistic expectations placed on women in her recent Vogue cover. The photoshoot featured the pop star in different lingerie and form-fitting sets, opposed to her usual loose-fitting outfits. The use of a fitted silhouette reflects Ellish’s new album which includes songs about her evolving relationship with body image. This topic of music is a huge change for the artist as she says her body is her “deepest insecurity.” The album focuses on the idea that young girls are expected to grow up too fast and the danger that comes with stealing a little girl's youth.

The newest single “you’re power” is an open letter from Eilish to fans who have ever experienced physical abuse. The pop star does not want to be a role model of physical beauty but rather recognized for her talent and hard work that has put her on top charts. Eilish's notorious baggy street style was a defense against being sexualized by the media, but now the young star uses confidence as her gospel, owning herself and her body. Women should be empowered whether they show skin or not and feel confident in themselves. “If you want to get surgery, go get surgery. If you want to wear a dress that somebody thinks that you look too big wearing, f–k it. If you feel like you look good, you look good,” said Eilish. The powerful shoot is about staying true to yourself both physically and mentally, and Billie Eilish has inspired women all around the world to do the same.
